Confirmation Preparation Class Descriptions:
Per the Diocese, all students of Confirmation age must complete 2 years of preparation classes.Family Catechesis CONFIRMATION
Year 1: Pre-requisite Level 6 or RCIC AND aged 12-15
Year 2: Pre-requisite (Year 1 Confirmation)
These Confirmation preparation classes are held twice a month. Each month participants will attend one class for students AND their parent(s) and one class for students only. Student/parent classes will include guest speakers, films, topical discussions, and monthly assignments to complete at home. Student only classes will include group service activities, field trips, student teaching and more. Students are required to attend all class sessions, complete Mass Notes and complete 10 hours of community service each year. Students will need to attend a Confirmation Retreat each year. Students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at the end of the second year.Review/Catch Up (Pre-Confirmation): For students entering grades 7 to 9 who HAVE received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion but, have NOT continued attending yearly Religious Education. To enter Year 1 of Confirmation Preparation classes, these students must attend 1 year of Review/Catch Up classes. This is a rigorous class designed as both a “catch up” class AND Pre-Confirmation class. Students are required to attend weekly Mass and complete 2 hours of service to St. Clement Church. -

Confirmation Sponsor Requirements
All students preparing to receive Confirmation are to seriously consider the importance of a good Catholic role model in their lives, and the support that person can be and should be to them in their continuing faith formation. Selection of a Confirmation sponsor must meet the following guidelines:
- over 18 years of age
- a confirmed practicing Catholic
- a good role model
- cannot be a parent
Once a sponsor is chosen, a Declaration of Eligibility form must be submitted to the Religious Education Office. If the sponsor is NOT a member of St. Clement, they must submit to the Religious Education Office a letter of good standing from the parish at which they belong.
In the coming months, there will be a few activities that will require your child to interact and spend time with their sponsor so please choose someone who is readily available to them.
Sponsor forms and letters of good standing can be returned to their Catechist or via email to the DRE. Please have your child return their form by March 18, 2024.
